My story
Hello. I'm Taika Jalohaikara, Finland's first Smart Artist.
I used to be a library assistant. I enjoyed working with people, especially organizing art workshops for children, but something was missing from my job. I used to travel to and from work on the metro every day. I had no idea then that today, I would be creating metros, trams, and anything else my imagination could come up with, all with AI.
I decided to leave the library to pursue my dream: I became an entrepreneur. But just as I founded my graphic design company, Finland's economic situation started to decline. I was faced with a challenging choice: either shut down operations or boldly pivot uphill.
Then, on LinkedIn, I stumbled upon a video. It was about DALL-E, a new AI that could create images. I knew immediately that this was it. My thing, and the new direction for my company.
I started to self-study the use of visual AI for more hours than there are in a day. The work became a hobby, and eventually, the hobby became work. I got my first clients for whom I created brand illustrations with AI, among the first in Finland! And I just kept thinking, "What on earth is happening?". I had finally realized my dream.
Nowadays, AI is my best friend and most effective teacher. I learn something new from it every day, and at the same time, my creative mind stays sharp.
My job description and expertise are broad: I do AI illustrations, AI art, speaking gigs, and AI training and workshops. I've gotten back to the things I loved doing at the library: those same inspiring and human-centered workshops that even the kids enjoyed. Now, that same work continues with young people and adults who are enthusiastic about AI and are constantly surprised by everything that is now possible with it.
Human first, AI by our side. . That is my motto, which summarizes the importance of AI for all of us.
P.S. My next dream is to go abroad. I'm excited to see which country will give me the first opportunity to share my expertise with a larger audience!
